My name is John Felipe Sangueza Mangrobang, born in Calatagan Batangas, Philippines, currently living in Mississauga, Canada. I live with my mom and dad as well as my little sister Ana. I am currently 22 years old and is attending Sheridan college Bachelor of Illustrations program.
I grew up using mostly graphite, charcoal, and chalk as my "go-to" mediums. However, as I grew up and explored more of what digital art had to offer, I started experimenting with colour and incorporating them into my artwork. Some of my favourite things to draw traditionally are portraits, birds, and flowers. In terms of digital artwork, I like to draw my friends, Pokemon, anime, cartoons, and fan-art.
When I first came to Canada from the Philippines in 2007, adjusting to the new environment was rather challenging as I was introduced to a new culture and language. Expressing oneself without the knowledge of language was rather difficult for my younger self. However, through that struggle of expression, I figured that if I can't say what I want to express, I can instead, draw it.
Through art, I was able to communicate what I couldn't through words and helped me gain newfound friends, confidence, and the passion to create.
Art is what brought me happiness in times of great struggling.
